                                                 The database is managed by the Publications Office of the European Union which acts in the name of all the institutions. The institutions participate regularly in the developments of the database through different committees and working parties.
			
			EUR-Lex provides free access to European Union law and other documents considered to be public. The website is available in 24 official languages of the European Union. The contents of the site amount to some 2 815 000 documents with texts dating back to 1951. The database is updated daily and every year around 12 000 documents are added. The Official Journal of the European Union is the principal source of EUR-Lex content and it is published in the early morning after every working day.
