MEDOW is a Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) consisting of 11 partners (5 universities and 6 industrial organisations) with collective expertise on the manufacturing, design, operation, and control of multi-terminal DC grids for the connection of offshore wind farms. Multi-terminal DC grids have the potential to faciliate the large-scale uptake of clean, sustainable offshore wind power. The MEDOW network is sharing complementary expertise, infrastructure and facilities for the training of the next generation of top-quality researchers in this field. Initial Training Networks aim to improve career perspectives of early researchers in both the public and private sector, thereby making research careers more attractive to young people. ITNs aim for researchers’ exposure to both academia and the private sector in a trans-national context to increase their employability and to encourage the development of a European pool of skilled, internationally mobile researchers who are able to work effectively in all sectors.
